Chapter 7 - Handling Typography
This chapter shows you how to allow a user to select and edit text in a layout shape. It takes you through the processes of hit-testing, selecting, highlighting, and redrawing layout text as well as showing you how to respond to users selecting or deleting text with different keys. Specifically, this chapter contains two recipes:
You should be familiar with the information in the recipes in Chapter 4, "Using the QuickDraw GX Environment," and Chapter 5, "Using Macintosh Windows," before you read this chapter. You should also be familiar with the concepts of hit-testing and providing feedback, which are described in the recipes of Chapter 6, "Handling Graphics."
- "Hit-Testing Layout Shapes" shows how to allow the user to select text in a layout shape by pressing the mouse button on a layout shape and dragging it over the desired selection.
- "Text Editing" shows how to allow the user to edit the selected text.
